Our Current Initiatives
Crop Cultivation
Sustainable Practices
At Tangled Carrot Farm, all of our products are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. We use crop rotation, drip irrigation, companion planting, beneficial insects, and permaculture methods to maintain health and resilience on our land.
We use season extension through the use of unheated greenhouses. We have one small caterpillar tunnel (30' x 50') and one high tunnel (32'x70'). Early in the season, we keep seedlings warm through a heated sand table and heated plant mats.
Livestock Management
Ethical Farming
We own a small flock of egg layers that provide quality manure that's incorporated into our compost mix. We use humane practices that prioritize animal welfare. We believe in sustainable animal husbandry that not only benefits the animals but also supports our farm's ecosystem. Our oldest chicken, Rocky, was born in 2017 and is the queen of the flock. She definitely doesn't lay eggs anymore and is a bit crotchety in her 9th year of life.
